What is the secular image of yoga? How can we improve?

Who sets / set the image of the non-yogi? I think are huge misconceptions about yoga and yoginis / yogis. Why some people think that yoga is for people that super flexible? Why else thread a type of yoga say it is "gay?" Why not consider a fact that yoga is good for your mental and physical well-being?
