Teaching yoga to students with multiple sclerosis

Patients with multiple sclerosis, can expect to feel the benefits of regular practice of yoga. Fatigue, pain, numbness, weakness and lack of coordination, suffering from fever of multiple sclerosis (MS). Yoga practice can ease these symptoms, and help students find their bodies again.

Yoga has been practiced for centuries – the holistic balance four elements of our existence. Our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual are discussed in the practice of yoga. Historically, the wide range of diseases has shown a profound balance and breadth of these elements. MS is a disease of the system CNS.

This insulation breaks nervous autoimmune disease (myelin) in the brain and the spinal nerves. In turn, this causes confusion neural communication, and the signals are crossed or blocked. The result is a body and mind can be completely disabled.

Good news is that recent studies, the benefits of yoga have proved promising. In fact, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has several chapters that contain yoga sessions regularly. Study participants experienced lower levels of pain, greater coordination and increased levels energy.

MS can be very unpredictable. different symptoms can affect different patients at different levels. Fatigue and stress are the most disabling the largest majority of patients with MS. Regular physical activity is absolutely essential to maintain quality of life of multiple sclerosis. Yoga is an excellent activity, low impact of a high level of success in the fight against stress and fatigue.

Another advantage is the ability to adapt yoga to individual needs. yoga postures can be modified and amended by different levels of skills. Some people with MS can live well, while others spend most of his life in a wheelchair. There a variety of terms used to define the levels of MS, such as:

1. Remitting MS (RRMS)

2. Secondary progressive (SPMS)

3. Progressive relapsing MS (PMR)

4. Primary progressive (PPMS)

These could be considered the four major categories, but there are conditions more uniformly used, and that MS can strike a variety of ways. For yoga instructors, this means promoting education Permanent, recognizing differences, and become creative with accessories, modifications, and assistance.

When available, teachers' aides Yoga can help those who can not hold the poses themselves, physically help your position. This in itself has become an art form. In this way, students take maximum advantage of the practice of yoga, despite their daily struggles.
