Yoga for Beginners

Yoga is an exercise for relaxation that helps in strengthening and nurturing the body for a relaxed mind. A new student of yoga can find it very confusing at the initial stage of practicing yoga.

Types of yoga
Yoga can be approached in many different ways, they are; postures, breathing exercise, relaxation and meditation and they form the basis of all yoga styles. But there are differences in yoga techniques and approaches because some teachers focus more on one technique than the other.

Yoga can be thought in rooms which are heated more than 100F; classes can also take place at your leisure or right inside your home. Because there are different yoga styles, how do you know the qualities ones to choose from? These are the things that must be known before starting a yoga class:

  1. Learn Yoga from a qualified teacher, you can know a trained teacher by asking questions like , where they trained, duration of the course, subject areas and teacher’s years of experience as a yogi.
  2. Find out whether your teacher has the capacity to handle beginners, because a beginner’s class will ensure learning the basic yoga foundation safely.
  3. You should know the average number of students per class, because a rowdy place does not give rooms for enough concentration on the teacher’s and students parts. Besides, there will be enough rooms for intimacies.
  4. The class schedule and place must be convenient because any state of inconvenience will be the creation an inconvenient situation in your daily routine.
  5. Engage your teacher in an intimate discussion; this is to enable a comfortable atmosphere for exchanging of ideas between teacher and student.

While much of the time we devote to yoga is spent being (SHHHH!) very quiet and extremely serious, there?s nothing like throwing a bit of humor into the mix. Ryn Gargulinski does just that with Bony Yoga. Her skeletal creations find themselves in all sorts of traditional yoga poses, with all sorts of untraditional commentary running beneath them. You?ll laugh out loud. (We can?t guarantee that stuff won?t come out your nose.) "I have been drawing skeletons since I was a kid and I am interested in yoga so it seemed like a natural mix. I may have even started drawing them to give myself a better idea of how my body should be positioned in the poses, as bones don?t lie." Gargulinski takes a bare-bones look at over 50 asanas common to a variety of different yoga styles.

Yoga Mala

Yoga Mala

$14.48

The seminal treatise and guide to Ashtanga yoga by the living master of this increasingly popular disciplineThere is a yoga boom in America, and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois is at the heart of it. One of the great yoga figures of our time, Jois brought Ashtanga yoga to the West a quarter of a century ago and has been the driving force behind its worldwide dissemination. Based on flowing, energetic movement, Ashtanga and the many forms of vinyasa yoga that grow directly out of it–have become the most widespread and influential styles of practice in the United States today. Mala means "garland" in Sanskrit, and Yoga Mala–a "garland of yoga practice"–is Jois’s distillation of Ashtanga. He first outlines the ethical principles and philosophy underlying the discipline and explains its important terms and concepts. Next he guides the reader through Ashtanga’s versions of the Sun Salutation and its subsequent sequence of forty-two asanas, or poses, precisely describing how to execute each position and what benefits each provides. Brought into English by Eddie Stern, a student of Jois’s for twelve years and director of the Patanjali Yoga Shala in New York City, Yoga Mala will be an indispensable handbook for students and teachers of yoga for years to come.
